Dark Patterns

Definition:
Deliberately manipulative design techniques used in interfaces, services, or systems to steer users toward actions they might not otherwise choose.

Critical Note:
Dark patterns exploit cognitive biases and uneven power dynamics. Their widespread normalisation blurs the line between persuasion and coercion, eroding informed consent while maintaining plausible deniability.
