Third-Party Sharing

Definition:
Third-party sharing is the transfer of data, access, or information from the original collector to additional external entities not directly involved in the initial interaction.

Usage Context:
Seen in advertising ecosystems, data brokerage, platform partnerships, analytics services, and integrated digital services.

Critical Note:
Third-party sharing is often obscured by complexity or buried consent mechanisms. Even when nominally disclosed, meaningful control is undermined by asymmetry of knowledge, power, and downstream use.
